Welland Floatfest: The Ultimate Lazy River!

Welland Floatfest: The Ultimate Lazy River!

Spotting a floater in the Welland Recreational Canal takes on a whole new meaning July 8th when the third annual Welland Floatfest 2018 returns to the Rose City.

The ultimate “lazy river” event will see thousands of people take to the water in a parade of inflatable crafts, with no other objective than to spend a truly relaxing day of leisure floating on the water. Live music, vendors and food are also available throughout the day. Last year the event set a Guinness World Record last year when over 1,500 participants established a 165.7m line of water inflatables on the canal.

The visually impressive event is designed for those floating on inflatable craft only, with no canoes, kayaks or other watercraft permitted. Those hoping to hit the water must first go through registration, which takes place from 10am till noon on the day of the event. The float will go from the Lincoln Street Docks in Scuba Park to just past the Lincoln Street Bridge.

There’s lots to do when out of the water as well, including a full line-up of live music starting at noon. Here’s the schedule:
