Today's Artists for Tomorrow's Voices: Live Band Karaoke for a Cause

If you’ve ever wanted to ramp up your karaoke cred by getting on stage and singing with a live band, there’s a unique event coming to The Warehouse that can you fulfill that dream while helping support a local children’s choir.

Today’s Artists for Tomorrow’s Voices” is an event organized by Choir Nation that allows those in attendance to bid for the chance to perform alongside live guest musicians,” explained Todd Green, co-founder of the Choir Nation initiative.

Tomorrow’s Voices is Choir Nation’s non-profit children’s choir, which launched in the fall of 2017 with over 30 children aged seven to 17. Since that time the group of local youths has performed under the direction of Sarah Jerrom, sharing the stage with artists such as Serena Ryder and Donovan Wood, and appearing at Toronto Marlies and Harlem Globetrotters games. The May 30th event is a fundraiser for the choir, and gives wanna-be singers the chance to perform alongside some seasoned musical professionals according to Green.

“We have four artists who will be performing in what will basically be live-band karaoke,” explained Green. “Our artists include Brad Battle, Katey Gatta, Avenue Inn and the Pubjugs. The artists submit their choices of songs, and the audience gets to bid on a chance to sing with that artist.”

Admission for the event is $10, with proceeds going to support the choir, whose members were recruited through Community Care and Big Brothers/Big Sisters. For more information on the choir visit http://choirnation.ca/tomorrows-voices/
