With Niagara’s entertainment industry continuing to emerge from the shadows of the COVID lockdowns, more venues are springing back to life and booking live shows. One such local favourite is Safari Niagara, which is hosting a live double bill August 6th featuring two premier cover bands, 21 Gun Salute (AC/DC) and Destroyer (KISS).

According to production lead David Rapelje, the show at the outdoor Safari Niagara amphitheatre is part of the ongoing progression to get things back to normal after cancelling all shows during the pandemic.

“The management at Safari Niagara, like many other organizations looked for alternative events like their Christmas Light Show called Safari Lights a 3.3 km route through the park with a variety of lighting displays for the holiday season,” said Rapelje, owner of TNR Productions. “As things started to open, we saw some social media traffic with customers and season pass holders asking when concerts would return. After some serious consideration the park elected to try two shows to see what the response would be. After the first show the answer was clear with a capacity crowd for Comfortably Numb: Canada's Pink Floyd Show. The venue has along history as a great venue for outdoor shows and large audiences".

With one successful show under its belt, Safari Niagara is hoping to once again draw a large crowd this Saturday with a double bill of classic rock featuring Windsor-based KISS tribute Destroyer, a band with a long and successful history paying tribute to the legendary rock icons. What is it about their show that provides such an authentic KISS experience? According to Rapelje, it’s a combination of things.

“The band has four incredibly talented musicians with over 100 years of musical experience when combined together, and they recreate the energy, powerhouse vocals and raw performance of a 70's KISS show. With over 1300 live shows to their credit, the band’s passion for everything KISS is real. From the KISS sign, the authentic costumes, and amazing recreation of the music of KISS, Destroyer is one of the hardest working and most sought after KISS tribute bands in North America. There is no detail too small for Destroyer and that is why their legion of fans continues to support them."

The shows are being presented by 91.7 GIANT-FM, which is hosting an invite-only pre-show VIP BBQ. Listen to win if you want to get into the VIP event. For tickets, visit the Safari Niagara website or purchase them at the door.
